Recycling Old Crayons! Do you have leftover crayons laying around your house? If so, this is a GREAT recycling craft idea that takes all of 30 minutes total! Having raised my own kiddos and being a kindergarten and pre-k teacher, I seriously CANNOT believe this is my first time attempting this! In my kindergarten classroom I always had a GINORMOUS container of crayon pieces stashed in a large jar and I have vivid memories of my teacher friend saying, ” What are you DOING?” as I dumped one container of crayons after another into the trashcan toward the end of the year just hurrying to clean and pack up for…

Helen Lester has written multiple books about an “odd” bird named Tacky. They are all hilarious and I always…

DIY spoon snowmen are the perfect snowy January project! In our pre-k classroom, we like to end our week with “Crafty Friday”! It’s usually a project that aligns well with our focus story of the week. This week we ended our week with this super cute project after reading “Snowmen at Night”. Now, I will tell you that my original vision of how this project would look in the end was a tad different than how it actually came out! When I placed my “spoon” order on Amazon I apparently, didn’t look at the size! Needless to say, I was a bit perplexed when I opened my package to see…

Canvas Snowflakes
Oh, what FUN January brings to the classroom! This week we made glitter snowflakes on canvas. It was a bit of prep beforehand, but well worth it! You need the following supplies to get started. There are many different options for all of the above really, so I just added links for MY favorites. Once you decide on the thickness of canvas you would like to use, and the width of painter’s tape you can begin by using the tape to make a snowflake design on your canvas. If you look carefully, you can tell that some of the painters’ tape, I used was much thicker in width giving the…
