Looking for some DIY Valentine ideas? How about these adorable “I Love You Because…” signs? I LOVE the way these turned out and can’t wait to give them as gifts for Valentine’s Day! The best part about this project is that I found the actual chalkboard houses at the dollar store! YUP, the Dollar Store! I picked up a bunch of them along with a package of wooden hearts that came in a variety of sizes and colors. I love that these boards are editable and can be customized for any family member or friend!
Supplies
Supplies for this project are of course, a Cricut Maker AND the vinyl paper to go with it! I attached a sampler of Cricut paper above. Personally, I like to use the “Cricut’ brand vinyl because I think it allows for a sharper cut. Many times, when I use other types of vinyl, I end up regretting it, ESPECIALLY when I am trying to cut tiny letters or objects. IF you do not have a Cricut Maker, letter stickers will work too!
Step 1 For DIY “LOVE” Chalkboard
I used my hot glue gun to attach my hearts to the bottom corner of my houses.
Step 2 For DIY “LOVE” Chalkboard
Use your Cricut to cut out your desired words OR use tiny stickers to adhere to your boards.
Hint, Hint! Don’t have a Cricut? No problem! You can easily purchase tiny colored stickers to adhere to the front of your chalkboard. It’s a great solution if you don’t want to spend all that money on a Cricut Machine!
Final Step
Be sure to lightly cover your vinyl with mod-podge so the letters don’t flake away from the board. This should always be your final step when using vinyl. It WILL flake away if you don’t glue it down with mod-podge. Don’t forget this step or your project won’t look so pretty months down the road. It might be missing a few letters!
