It’s the Simple Things in Life, Make me Happy Checklist

It’s the little things in life. Yes, we all have rough days. Especially when we enter adulthood and soon realize that our choices, our everyday decisions have bigger consequences than they did when we were 5. Let’s face it, life can be rough! Days stressful, but I have always taught my kids AND my classroom kiddos that in the midst of everything a positive outlook WILL make a difference! SO put your “Positive Pants” on and tackle today. Good or bad.

Make Me Happy

It’s the little things is a checklist I created using Canva for myself and others to try out! It’s a list of 7 things that made YOU smile during your day. Challenge anyone?? Can you list 7 positive things that happened to you for SEVEN days?? Sure, you can! Let’s get started! What made YOU smile today? I’ll go first!

  1. Have you ever dragged yourself to the grocery store to do the dreaded weekly grocery shopping? It’s cold out, the store is even COLDER, but there is no way around it. I have two things to say about this.
    • Use a pickup drop off service, it’s SO worth it!
    • If you MUST go, even for a few items, make it colorful! There is nothing I love more than arranging all of my fresh produce into separate containers once I get home! Kinda sounds like a few positives there, right??

2. Clearly color makes me happy because the second on my list is a pretty new color of nail polish! I love to treat myself to getting my nails done at the salon, but my nails need a break! Literally. I did however find these super pretty spring colors on amazon. Abitzon Honey Who doesn’t love a fresh coat of pretty nail polish?

3. Organization makes me feel at peace. When things in my surroundings are organized, I feel in control and at peace of the things I actually DON’T have control over. Start small. If you have an entire room to tackle, start with one tiny section. Set a timer and work at it for a half hour then it won’t seem so overwhelming AND you’ll be willing to return to the task! My kitchen is always in need of reorganizing. Especially with four boys in the house. I clean, and they undo what I did…. within an hour of my cleaning! UGH. But I’m telling you, for that one hour I am SO satisfied with my one clean Tupperware drawer! Try it!

4. I am a magazine freak! They make me happy. Honestly, it’s what makes grocery shopping worth it! At the end of the load, I pick out an interesting magazine that I can snuggle up on the couch and enjoy! I have a tough time parting with some of them because…

  • They are no longer $3.99
  • They are loaded with fun recipes and colorful ideas!

That being said, I keep many of them and when I don’t feel like spending money on a new one, I look through my living room stasch! It’s a WIN-WIN! No money spent, and fresh ideas because I don’t remember reading it 3 months ago!

5. These faces make me smile! They are the most loveable creatures and are always up for walk and some fresh air! Well…one of them is at least! What a mood booster when I put my walking gear on and head out into the outdoors. Changing it up by taking them to a special park is even better and always ends with both pup and myself feeling refreshed!

6. Baking!! Boy, do I enjoy spending time in my kitchen, but I love it even more when I can share a special something with a neighbor.

7. Who doesn’t enjoy a clean car?? My kids are teens, so you would think my days of cleaning up messes in the car are over with. NOT. They are almost worse as teens! They leave clothes, wrappers, water bottles and sports gear constantly! And how they manage to cover the back seat in dirt is beyond me! Point is, I find myself cleaning out my car at least once every two weeks and OH is it refreshing! I try to keep the kids AND dogs out of it for at least a few days after cleaning for extended happiness each time I open my car door!

Ok, yes there are SO many more things that bring me joy. The point is, your energy flows were your focus goes! If you focus on the positive you will FEEL much better even on a cruddy day. Stay positive and join me in this 7-day challenge!
